This listing offers a GALLON of Ultra Flair Prismatic Midcoat without any additional items. This item does not include reducer needed to thin it for spray nor does it include any base color or clear which is required to achieve a durable final color.

Ultra Flair is built from pigment that has been constructed using a special layering process to create a rich prism like effect without the “flake look” seen from holographic metal flakes. This makes for incredible “holographic” rainbow like effects with a silky smooth transition across the color spectrum. This product is transparent allowing for a wide range of colors to be created by altering the base color. For instance, dazzling holographic black finishes can be made by applying this item over a black base and clearing or applying this over a blue base makes for an eye popping blue holographic effect. We offer a wide range of base colors to go with this product allowing for incredible custom color options.

What is the difference between metallic paint and metal flake paint?

The primary difference is the size of the sparkle. Metallic paint is made with finely ground aluminum that ranges in size from roughly 10 microns to 50 microns whereas metal flake typically varies from 50 microns (micro flake) to 200 microns (standard flake) and can be over 600 microns (can we say Bass Boat!). Metallic paint has a more sleek look whereas metal flake has a heavier sparkle with more of a “speckled” look to it.

Is metallic paint harder to spray?

Metallic paint is harder to spray than solid colors (colors with no pearl or metallic sparkle) but not as challenging to spray as transparent candy or chameleon paints.

How much paint do I need?

The amount of paint you will need depends on a lot of factors including the size of the vehicle you are painting, how much of the vehicle you are painting, which color you use, your spray equipment, and the technique and skill of your painter. Generally speaking a gallon kit of paint is enough for the outside and jambs of a small to medium sized vehicle. Larger vehicles or if you are painting more than the outside and jambs will require more paint. Quart kits are generally enough paint for motorcycles and golf carts. However, if you have a large motorcycle or golf cart with a lot of pieces you might need an additional quart kit.

Which clear should I use?

We highly recommend the UC-210 UreChem HS Glamour clear. The UC-210 has been proven to offer more UV protection than most clears on the market which extends the life of your finish. Our 2K MS clear is a good choice in colder weather or when you need a faster drying product.

Which activator and reducer should I use?

The activator and reducer to select depends on the size of the vehicle or parts you are painting, the temperature, and your air movement. Generally speaking when painting a 30%+ of a car’s surface area at once you’ll want medium or “standard” reducer and activator as it is called for vehicle surface temps up to 85F. For temperatures above that slow is the better choice. Generally fast is only recommended for smaller areas in cooler temps.
