We believe our SlikPhlat product is the best high quality urethane low gloss color value on the market. When comparing to other products, keep in mind that this is a full gallon plus a quart of both activator and reducer – that’s 1.5 gallons of spray-able material. Many other kits are one gallon including activator, which means they contain 33% less material.
SlikPhlats Hot Rod colors combine urethane polymers and co-reactants with automotive grade pigment and flatting agents to product automotive colors in a low gloss finish popular for today’s rat rod look. Mixes 4:1:1 with UreChem activator and reducer. To learn more about our hot rod flats style colors visit our blog by clicking here: https://www.thecoatingstore.com/low-gloss-hot-rod-colors/.

Are low gloss finishes more difficult to maintain?
Yes. Low gloss products such as our SlikPhlats single stages scratch more easily, and are more challenging to keep clean than gloss finishes.
Which activator and reducer should I choose?
SlikPhlats goes on more evenly when applied wet and kept wet longer. Therefore, when painting larger areas above 75 degrees it is better to use slow activator and reducer. Medium or “Standard” can be used on smaller areas or for lower temps. Fast activator and reducer is not recommended on our SlikPhlats products.
How much paint do I need?
The amount of paint depends on a lot of factors, but generally one of our 1 gallon kits will paint the outside and jambs on most vehicles. Large SUVs or large trucks where you are spraying inside the bed may need an additional quart kit (or two) but this is uncommon.
NOTE: If you can’t find a single quart size of the kit you’re looking at on our website, please contact us! We are adding quart-sized versions of many of our kits to our website, but it’s a time-consuming process.
How much is shipping, and how long will it take before I get my kit?

Why are your products so much more affordable than big name brands?
Our unique sales and marketing strategy allows us to save substantial amounts of money by not hiring a national sales force to distribute our products. Furthermore, we do not have large marketing budgets based off exorbitant costs of race and show sponsorships.
How good is your product?
It’s excellent!
We conduct advanced testing on every coating to verify that it meets our standards for durability and wear. Our testing process utilizes expensive equipment that simulates several years of extreme weather. The weather is we simulate is very hard on paint: high heat and high humidity, wet freezing rain, and extended UV exposure. While our testing device can simulate 2 years of weather in just a few weeks, most paint companies don’t bother with this type of testing becasue of the effort and expense.
We’ve always believe the quality of our products will be the key to our success, and we’re proud to say we have thousands of 5-star reviews on both our website and our store on eBay.
