These “Basecoat Reducers” or “Basecoat Stabilizers” are compatible with Dupont’s Chromabase and ChromaPremier products for spray application. A high quality product at a competitive price! Unlike conventional reducers BaseMakers contain special resins and additives that help improve metallic control, speed up dry and improve film leveling.
While Dupont (Now Axalta) neither makes nor endorses these Equasion products, using these products in Chromabase/ChromaPremier products provides huge cost savings without sacrificing quality. Tech sheets aiding in product use will be provided with each purchase. Buy now and save big! One part BaseMaker called for with everyone part ChromaBase or ChromaPremier basecoat. ChromaPremier also requires an activator in addition to the BaseMaker.

Select based on the temperature and the size of the item being painted. Temperature ranges listed above are common guidelines when painting the average sized vehicle. When painting smaller objects such as motorcycle tanks often one grade faster of reducer can be used. May also replace other BaseMakers or Basecoat Stabilizers. Equasion’s “DB” Series reducers are formulated with premium quality solvents to ensure top performance in reduced basecoats such as Dupont’s Chromabase and certain Hot Hues products. Unlike most basecoat reducers, these BaseMakers contain key resins and additive to aid in basecoat flow, leveling, and metallic control. While these products are neither produced nor endorsed by Dupont, many customers are finding they can replace their Dupont Chromabase 7160S, 7175S, and 7185S BaseMakers with significant savings and no quality issues.

Delaware REQUIRES LOW VOC automotive coatings. However, Delaware has an exception in section 11.1.2.2 stating “where the use or application of that coating or cleaning solvent is by a person who does not receive compensation for such use or application”. In other words, our understanding from the rule is that if you are paying a painter to paint your vehicle then have to use LOW VOC coatings but if you are not paying someone to paint your vehicle then you can use the standard non-LOW VOC materials.
